The breakthrough 3D modeling technology developed at Purdue University simultaneously captures a video image and produces an evolving 3D model in real-time. The ModelCamera System creates an interactive modeling pipeline based on real-time dense color and sparse depth. The system continually registers the frames using the depth and color data, and integrates them into an evolving model, built from thousands of frames. This inside-looking-out is highly suitable to rapid modeling and visualizing interior environments such as rooms, car interiors, hallways, etc. |
